We Are One

As you know I was at the Inauguration celebration at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles yesterday.  It was a very emotional and overwhelming experience.  There were so many people of all race, color, status, orientation, creed.  It was beautiful to witness.  Just the thought that everyone was there for the same reason and it was positive.  The energy was electrifying.  I know the crowd in LA was infinitesimal in comparison to the DC crowd and I believe it was just as excited and charged, just as amazing.

I am in awe at the power of unity.  When we set aside our differences and come together on one accord big things occur.  I believe that if President Obama does nothing else while in office he has already earned a million times his salary and his place in history by kick starting the unification of America like no one else has.

For those who don’t know I am a photographer and I was actually at the event shooting and filming for a show I am producing.  I managed to pull a couple of pictures I shot that I found moving, I hope you enjoy them as well.

Peace and blessings President Obama

Challenging People.

“Can’t we all just get along?” – Rodney King

Challenging people.  You know them.  They are a part you your family, you work with them.  You drive in traffic with them, ride the train, plane or bus with them.  They cause trouble, ruin your day, put you in a bad mood.  Those challenging people are you and you are them.  They are your mirror.  The only reason they rub you the wrong way is because they are reflecting a part of  you that you can’t stand.  I know this is a big pill to swallow.  I invite you to try it on and take a close look at that “thing” the other person does that really gets under your skin.  If you allow yourself to be open and vulnerable you will see that in some way you do the same “thing”.

Thanks to a good friend and awesome filmmaker, Ryan Alan Petti, I had the opportunity to watch the film Religulous, starring Bill Mayer.  Not only is the this documentary funny is is just awesome. Religulous presents the world of religon in a very colorful way.  I definetly walked away from this film with a new outlook on dogmatic religion.  Bill was absolutely perfect for this film he brought about a comedic style that was punchy and quick. I loved it.  Please check out Religulous and post your thoughts.  I would love to here from you.

Bring your story to the world.

With the power of the Internet there is no excuse for not sharing your story with the world.   Blogs , YouTube, MySpace etc. have made it easy to get your story out there for free. Everyone has a story to share.  We all view experiences from different perspectives this is what makes the world beautiful. Your story can inspire another to greatness.  I have been moved, touch and inspired so many time  by listening, reading and viewing  different perspectives.  When I am faced with a challenge and can relate to another who has faced the same challenge and over come it victoriously,  it moves me to new action.  I believe we are here on this planet for that very reason, to help and inspire each other.  So, in what way will you inspire another to greatness today?

Fear

False Evidence Apearing Real

When the above acronym was first brought to my attention there was this instant resonance, a knowing that this acronym sums up the truth about fear.  I have faced some very real feelings of fear.  At the time I believed the fear was the truth.  Have you ever been gripped by fear to the point that you felt a physical reaction to it?  I am  reminded of  when I was fifteen years old and my mother transitioned from this life expression.  I feared that I couldn’t survive without her.  Mentally I couldn’t think, thoughts wouldn’t form. Physically, I couldn’t breathe, as if something was slowly cutting off my supply of oxygen. In the moment I certainly couldn’t see my happy ending.  It wasn’t until I stepped through the fear and fought to live versus grieving myself to death did I see  and come to know all is truly well.  Indeed the fear I had was false evidence appearing real.    Looking back at that time in life I am grateful for not being completly sold on that false evidence.  As I face life’s challenges today I draw from my earlier education in fear.  I work at not buying into the fear and sometimes I’m better at it than others, but I keep moving through it to get to the truth.  My strategy has always come through and I’m better for it.

In what areas are you buying into the false evidemce appearing real?  Where is fear holding you back?  Get in the habit this year of walking through your fear.

Wow, 2009.  I want to start my first post of the many to come this year with a resounding WOW!  I am so excited about this year.  I know already without a doubt this is my best year.  There are great adventures unfolding this year and I am excited about it.

I want to thank everyone who reads this blog and supports the Bristah Story project . The well wishes and encouragement motivate me to continue moving forward.  I would like to invite you to post comments on the blog.  I REALLY look forward to the interaction and dialogue.

As far as the progress of Bristah Story, I am almost complete with the first draft of the script. Once completed with the first draft it will go off to the editor and my mastermind team for a loving critique (aka shredding to bits). Then I will  rework it taking the advice into consideration.  In the meantime I am working on the marketing plan (my specialty) and laying the foundation for the marketing launch.  Fun stuff!  I will keep you posted every step of the way.

As a side note I want to remind everyone that you can follow Bristah Story on Twitter.  Additionally, If you have read any of my posts prior to this one you know that spirituality is a huge part of my life.  Therefore, I am launching a new video podcast in the next few weeks called SoulVersation: Conversing with the Soul.  Stay tuned for details, more to come.

In closing, now is the time to set the intention to make 2009 the very best year of your life.

The Gift of Giving

Posted in Bristah Documentary, Life with tags , , , , , , , , on December 23, 2008 by bristah

Giving to others is truly a gift.  Last night my partner and I gave gifts to a single mom and her five children.  Our thought was that it would be nice to help her out with some gifts for her family as a way to show our gratitude and tithes to the Universe.  We were awestruck to hear that she had already told the children that all she could afford for Christmas this year was to pay the water and power bill.  Her expression of pure joy at the site of all the gifts and the knowing that her children can have a Christmas filled with presents, was one of the most precious moments of my life.  I am so grateful to be blessed with the resources to lend a hand to this mom and assist in bringing a little joy to five beautiful children.
